We are so excited to let you know that Lorie Watkins of The Watkins Family has received Two nominations from the Front Porch Fellowship Gospel Awards which is held on Sept. 16 2010 at the Bluegrass Pickin’ Jamboree Showcase at the National Quartet Convention . She has been nominated for Favorite Female Vocalist and Favorite Instrumentalist. These awards of voted on by the fans and as soon as a link is available we will get that posted where you can vote for your favorite Bluegrass Gospel singers, groups, instrumentalists, and songs.

She’s Working On Her Testimony makes Singing News top 80 chart

We are so excited that our first single from Heaven’s Worth Waiting For has made the Singing News top 80 charts. Thanks to all the DJs for playing She’s Working On Her Testimony and thanks to y’all for requesting it. But most important, we hope the song has been a blessing and touched someone’s life.

The Watkins Family welcomes Jonathan Maness!

The Watkins Family has added another full-time musician to their ministry. Jonathan Maness of Knoxville, Tenn., will perform on mandolin and guitar. Maness was most recently part of the bluegrass band the Dixie-BeeLiners. He has made select appearances for the Watkins Family previously.

Maness also toured with Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike, and Young Harmony. He has performed with Sam Bush, Doc Watson, David Holt, Wayne Henderson, and Riders In The Sky. He holds a bachelor’s degree in classical guitar performance from Appalachian State University. “We are so excited to be adding this extremely talented young Christian gentleman to our ministry,” said Judy Watkins.

“Jonathan has a positive up-beat attitude that adds to his many talents,” Lorie said. “His addition gives us the ability to present to our audiences a fuller, richer, and broader sound in our performances. We are very thankful to have him join us.”

The group which includes matriarch Judy Watkins and her three adult children Todd, Lorie and Shanon continue a path sharing their love of Jesus through traditional music touring across the United States and Canada since 1982.

Heaven’s Worth Waiting For, the brand new cd from The Watkins Family, is now released. The first single “She’s Working On Her Testimony” is being sent to radio and promoted by the Rick Hendrix Company.
